👋 ¡Hola! I’m Julia — Your Language Tutor
I’m a native Spanish speaker with roots in both Mexico and Spain. I was born in Mexico City and moved to Spain at age 11, where I grew up surrounded by flamenco, Mediterranean food, and the rich traditions of Spanish culture.
My lessons bring both worlds together:
- Mexican culture — vibrant festivals, colourful traditions, El Día de Muertos
- Spanish culture — gastronomy, flamenco, and everyday life in Spain
You don’t just learn the language — you experience it.
🌎 My Story
I was born in Mexico City, surrounded by colourful traditions, lively festivals, and the warmth of Mexican culture. At age 11, I moved to Spain, where I discovered flamenco, Mediterranean gastronomy, and the unique rhythm of Spanish life.
These two cultures shaped who I am, and today they shape how I teach. In my lessons, you don’t just learn grammar and vocabulary — you explore the real Spanish-speaking world through stories, traditions, food, music, and everyday conversation.
Teaching has been my dream since childhood. I used to “teach” my teddies at age 5, pretending they were my students. Later, during university, I helped classmates prepare for exams and understand challenging subjects. Now living in the UK, that childhood dream has become my profession
🎓 Qualifications & Experience
I hold a Diploma of Teacher Accreditation from Instituto Cervantes, the world’s leading institution for Spanish language education.
I also completed my PGCE and achieved QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) here in the UK, which allows me to teach Spanish professionally in schools. Through this training, I gained strong classroom experience, curriculum knowledge, and a deep understanding of how to support learners with different needs and abilities.
I have worked as a qualified MFL (Modern Foreign Languages) teacher in a UK school, teaching across year groups and helping students build confidence in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
Before becoming a qualified teacher, I worked as a Spanish Teaching Assistant, specialising in GCSE and A‑Level Spanish. I focused particularly on helping students improve their speaking skills for their exams — supporting them with pronunciation, fluency, conversation strategies, and cultural knowledge to boost their performance.
